The work Creatpoia was inspired by Shanghai Linzhua (Fragments of Shanghai) by Republican-era journalist Yu Muxia. This collection of notes documenting modern Shanghai social life contains more than 300 essays, each ranging from about one hundred to seven or eight hundred words. Covering mainly the 1920s–1930s, its content is all-encompassing, meticulously recording the clothing, food, housing, and transportation of fashionable men and women, the everyday necessities of ordinary citizens, the many trades of the underworld, and the strange slang and hidden stories of the time. It is regarded as a detailed social history and lifestyle handbook of modern Shanghai.

The Creatpoia series was created to commemorate the most dazzling figures preserved in the city’s memory—those “scaled and clawed” people. Cities inevitably change and renew themselves, yet these “monsters” remain forever in that time, that place, that moment.

“怪物里”作品受到民国报人郁慕侠撰写的《上海鳞爪》启发，这部由记录近代上海社会生活的笔记汇编 ，全书编为300余篇，每篇短则百字，多则七八百字。记述时限主要为20世纪20-30年代，内容包罗万象，巨细无遗地记录了当时时髦男女的衣食住行、市井小民的柴米油盐、五花八门的江湖行当、光怪陆离的黑话秘闻，被视为一部详实的近代上海社会史与生活手册。而“怪物里”系列作品的诞生就是为了纪念城市记忆里，那些最闪耀的，“有鳞有爪”的人们，城市会更迭变化，那些“怪物们”却会永远留在那时那地那刻。

Through the construction of dual interior and exterior spaces, the installation expresses an urban impression of Shanghai—the “Magic City.” One side presents a calm, data-driven atmosphere reminiscent of architectural blueprints; the interior space beneath this outward “blueprint” transforms into the warm, chaotic, and vibrant “organs” of the city. Here, the sounds of cooking, conversation, and street vendors surge forward. Within this dense atmosphere of everyday life, people, buildings, and daily routines intertwine and grow like cellular tissue. From these fragments of ordinary life, the city’s neural network develops, its cultural ideals take shape, and a powerful, creative vitality emerges amid mixture and constraint.

装置通过内外两重空间的构建，表达对“魔都”上海的城市印象。装置的一面是如建筑图纸般冷静的数据化氛围，而另一面，外表“图纸”对应下的内部空间，则变成城市温热、混乱又蓬勃的“脏腑”。在这里，炒菜声、交谈声、叫卖声扑面而来，浓郁的人间烟火中，人、建筑与日复一日的生活，如细胞组织般缠绕交织、共同生长。在这个“脏腑”琐碎的日常里，发育出城市的神经网络，发育出城市的文化理想，在混杂和限制中滋长出强大而充满创造性的生命力。
